After a rather unpleasant experience with some Anonymous users I decided to block all the Anon messages, but I will probably open the possibility again in time

Ah ok. Though this time I did post a comment with my gmail id, still it didn't get posted. I'm from Tamil Nadu, South India, though am not a Tamilan. And a Madhuri fan I've been since Tezaab, when I was a school girl. Actually as I keep mentioning, I've jsut recently rediscovered Madhuri and am realising she's much much more than just a actress with the most dazzling smile and the best BW dancer. Have in the last month or so watched a slew of her movies and am loving her performances even in the most ridiculous of movies and roles.

This is awesome! So Madhuri is known in the South? Because some people have been telling me she is only known in the North, because she never did a film in Tamil or Telugu (more precisely, it never released).

I agree that she is one performer who can make anything look good - or at least she is the saving grace!

Ah that's why I mentioned I'm not a Tamilan. . She is undoubtedly known in the South, but it would also not be incorrect to say that she maybe not as popular as Sridevi as Sri is originally from the south and have done films in Tamil, Telugu and other South Indian languages. Actaully people in the South are much more chauvanistic (and I mean this in the nicest of ways, coz to each her own) and therefore have developed their film industry and have their own superstars etc. Of course there is a lot of fluidity. I have been living in Tamil Nadu since the past 10 years or so and know that people here too watch Hindi movies and have their fav BW actors. Here people tend to speak predominantly in Tamil and so those not knowing Tamil (like me) face difficulty in their day to day contact with people. Whereas I was brought up in Kolkata (Calcutta), though again I'm not a native Bengali, but there people don't only speak Bengali but Hindi too and there Hindi movies are much more popular than Bengali films and there's a huge BW following there.

It is only understandable that Sridevi would have more fans in the South being from there and making films in the local languages...... But I have come across people who keep saying Madhuri is not known in the South at all. I guess they are just haters then.

Really people say dat Madhuri is totally unknown in the south? That's definately not the case. Also apart from Tamil Nadu, in other South Indian states BW movies are more popular than regional movies.

Well yes, I´ve herad that more than a few times.... but I should perhaps ad I read those comments in regards of Madhuri/Sridevi fans war, so I guess they were indeed just hating on Mads....
